Objective
The King's Thrombosis Centre (part of King's College Hospital) was identified as the first NHS VTE Exemplar Centre in the UK, as part of the Chief Medical Officer's initiative to promote best practice in the prevention of VTE.
King's College Hospital wanted to create a micro-site that allowed the promotion of this prestigious accolade, whilst delivering clear messages to key audiences.
Creative
King's College Hospital has a clearly defined brand identity, but it was imperative that the exemplar site had it's own unique look and feel. The final design went through an iterative process, being approved by King's College staff at each stage.
Although not within the initial brief, Motorpilot Ltd suggested the development of a logo for the National VTE centres, to be utilised on all presentations and documentation, thus reinforcing the individual identity of the site and it's content.
The final design of the website allowed all aspects of the brief to be met. The rich and engaging interface provides users with clearly defined and accessible content.
Technical
Motorpilot Ltd worked closely with King's College, to clearly define and structure the main content areas. Initial wire-frame diagrams helped explain and refine the website interface and it's subsequent structure.
With a clearly defined structure, the website platform was built to allow extensibility for the comprehensive information it would hold.
The simple content management system enables the King's College staff to control administration of the site's content, whilst retaining format and brand identity.
Result
The launch and subsequent performance of the VTE website has been nothing less than outstanding. Launched in September 2008, the site has generated so much interest and plaudits, that it is to become the National VTE Exemplar centre website, encompassing all exemplar centre's within the UK.
The site was recently presented as part of the All-Party Parliamentary Thrombosis Group conference on VTE, where it received incredible feedback and support from all areas.
With clean design and easy to access information the client is also very happy with the ease of update and scalability of the information, allowing growth of the site for future demands.
